Installing a label printer

A label printer is needed if the clinic uses a module «Лаборатории»and prints labels with barcodes on its own.

Important! In MedLock, only one label printer can be used on one computer, otherwise printing will be incorrect.

Browser Print supports the TSC TDP-225 printer, as well as the following Zebra printers:

  • QLn Series
  • The ZT200™ Series
  • The ZT400™ Series
  • ZT510
  • ZT600 Series
  • The ZD500™ Series
  • The ZD400™ Series
  • LP2824+
  • GK420
  • GX420

Connecting the Zebra Printer

Windows

  1. Windows 7 and Windows 10 are supported.
  2. Download and install the printer drivers.
  3. Download and install the BrowserPrint application for Windows.

MacOS X (Apple)

  1. Open in the settings «Принтеры и сканеры».
  2. Press«+».
  3. Add the required printer with the ZPL driver (the printer must be detected).
  4. When the system windows appear, confirm the action (grant permission).
  5. Download and install the BrowserPrint application for macOS.

Zebra Printer Settings

The printer's print settings can be changed in the Zebra Setup Utilities program.

The barcode printer must be configured to print according to the following parameters:

  1. The minimum size of the black stripe is not less than 0.2 mm.
  2. The blank white field on both sides of the barcode is at least 3 mm.
  3. The balance of the black and white stripes of the barcode does not exceed the ratio 1/3.

To use barcoding (regardless of the type of printing — direct thermal or thermal transfer), it is necessary to use self-adhesive labels «Thermo Top»or similar with double-sided moisture protection and operating temperature conditions from -10 to +40 C.

The requirement for barcodes without cuts

  • Width - min. 43 mm, max. 55 mm.
  • Height - min. 25 mm, max. 33.5 mm.
  • The size of the linear WK on the label is 22.8 mm x 15 mm.
  • There is a 2-3 mm white field frame around the perimeter of the WK.

Paper requirements

The front side
White woodless paper for direct thermal printing, treated with a black heat-sensitive coating. Static color display: black image display begins at 80C, maximum display at 120C.

  • Density 76 g/m2 ISO 536
  • Thickness 0.083 mm ISO 534

Adhesive layer
The general purpose rubber-based permanent adhesive S2045 is recommended in accordance with BS5609 part II, FDA 175.105, BgW XIV standards.
A general-purpose adhesive layer, it is characterized by good adhesion and adhesion to a large number of substrates, including slightly rough and curved surfaces.

The substrate

  • BG 40 brown, super-calendered paper with glazed surface
  • Density 62 g/m2 ISO 536
  • Thickness 0.057 mm ISO 534
  • Transparency 45% DIN 53147

Overall thickness

  • 0.145 mm + 10%
  • Standard data
  • Coupling force (90 degrees) 480 Nm
  • The adhesion rate is 800 Nm
  • Labeling temperature – 5 degrees
  • Application range – 40 C + 50 C

Shelf life

  • 1 year, store at a temperature of 22 degrees C at 50% humidity.

Connecting and configuring the TSC TDP-225 printer

Windows

  1. Connect the printer to the computer
  2. Download the TSC Printer Driver
  3. Install the first driver:
  • Unzip the archive and open the file DriveWizard.exe .
  • Select Install printer drivers and click «Далее».
  • Select the TSC TDP-225 printer, remember the port number to which the printer is connected (Port column) and press «Далее».
  • Add the word Zebra to the beginning of the Printer name to get Zebra TSC TDO-225.
  • Uncheck Use this printer as the default printer, leave Do not share this printer and click «Далее».
  • Press the button «Готово»and wait for the driver to be installed.
  • After successful installation, click Close.
  1. Install the second driver to configure label printing via the BrowserPrint browser.
  2. Configure Zebra BrowserPrint:
  • The Zebra BrowserPrint icon will appear on the bottom right, right-click on it and select Settings, tick Drive Search (at the bottom of the window) and close the window.
  • Go to Medlock and try to print the label.
  • In the Select an Option window, click Yes, close the Browser Print Settings window.

Subsequent labels will be printed without pop-ups.

If the labels are printed incorrectly

If the text shifts to another label or breaks, you can use Zebra label printing adjustments.:

  1. Download and install Zebra Utilities
  2. Install the Zebra Driver:
  • launch Zebra Setup Utilities;
  • select USB and click Next;
  • click Manual Install;
  • in the new window, click«Далее»;
  • choose«Установить принтер»;
  • accept the terms and click«Далее»;
  • select ZDesigner ZD410-203dpi ZPL;
  • change the name to ZDesigner TSC TDP-225 and select the port that was previously specified when installing the first driver (item 3«Подключение и настройка принтера»), then click«Далее»;
  • uncheck all the boxes and click«Завершить»;
  • wait for the installation (the installation window will close automatically);
  • click Finish.
  1. Go to the Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> right-click on Zebra TSC TDP-225 -> Print Settings -> ZDesigner TSC TDP-225 -> Tools -> Calibrate Media -> Send.
  2. The printer will respond to the command and issue several empty labels.
  3. If calibration fails, you can try calibrating the media through Zebra Setup Utilities.:
  • run Zebra Setup Utilities -> select ZDesigner TSC TDP-225 -> Open Printer Tools -> Action -> Calibrate media.

After completing the steps, the barcode printing should improve.
